Meet The Team

Whether you are a regular passenger on The Leas Lift or simply here for a day trip, here is the team committed to making your journey a memorable one.

Darren Hughes

Darren Hughes joined the Leas Lift staff after leaving school and is now one of the directors. His expertise and in depth knowledge of the workings of the lift ensure the smooth day to day running and guarantee you a safe ride.

Eamonn Rooney

Eamonn has worked here since 1996 and is considered by many to be the saviour of the Leas Lift.  After Shepway District Council relinquished their involvement, Eamonn and two others agreed to take over the running of the lift.

Eamonn, also a director, has been a driving force in setting up the lower station shop where you can buy everything from Leas Lift souvenirs to a stick of Folkestone rock.

Terry Begent

Terry Is another of the directors of the Leas lift and, although he is not often seen there, he is instrumental in maintaining the heritage and legal side of the lift.  He is the one who burns the midnight oil ploughing through documents and writing long letters ensuring that the lift receives the correct heritage status it so deserves.

Martin Hogg

Here Martin can be seen operating the breaking system of the Leas lift.  He joined in 2004 and is a highly respeced member of the team who is always ready to lend a helping hand to the waiting public..

Ed Thomas

Ed has been with us on a part time basis for a while now and is ready to come in on short notice to help out whenever necessary. This ensures that the Leas lift will be open every day for your convenience.

Volunteers

Leas Lift volunteers such as Frank and Vivienne Leggett or Malcom Montgomery, are an invaluable asset with helping us run this non profit organisation.  If you would like to help, or volunteer your services please feel free to call in or contact us via our e-mail
